Florin Grama I started learning about photography at the age of 13 when I first took my father’s camera. An old and bitten Russian photo camera Smena produce by “Lemo”. It was mystery of how that camera worked. It skipped every other shot or every third one. I still don’t have the answer or an explanation of it but I was very happy to have it. By the age of 14 together with my friend Adrian Prelipcenu and guided by his uncle Osi, we slow learn and discover the mysterious art of the dark room. It was the first time when I felt the passion for photography. Years latter I was able to purchase my first camera from another friend (a Nikon F3 with a 85mm 1.4 lens). Magazines and books guided me on learning the creativity of Photoshop and digital photography but I did not have the financial power to adjust everything to digital. It took years before I was able to switch to digital, but I was finally converted with the acquisition of my first digital camera. A Canon EOS 20D and three zoom lenses 10-22, 17-85 and 70-300. I was pleased with the results and the quality of the images. It is the exactly same equipment I used in my first trip to Nepal and the tools I used for all the materials presented in my book about Nepal “The path to Ama Dablam”. In recent years, in parallel with photography, I developed the passion for video production, and I worked on creating documentaries about my expeditions. I am still a beginner in cinematography but I hope to encourage everyone with my work and to give him or her the enthusiasm for the resourceful art of video and still photography. |
